This is our own Statement of Faith; it may or may not be yours. We can disagree on certain points and still be solid in the faith. This is a synopsis of what we personally consider some of the most important teachings of scripture. With ours, we have gone into greater detail than many, in the hopes that it may answer some fundamental questions and offer a concise framework to help place many scriptural truths within a unified perspective. It's impossible to put the whole Bible into a brief statement. Furthermore, honest theologians have always agreed to disagree agreeably on peripheral issues (the so-called "nonessentials"). Even so, you will see herein that we hold to sound biblical orthodoxy on all non-negotiables of the Christian faith; and even on those minor points where believers can disagree while still calling each other brothers, we are in good company with many who view the scriptures as we do. This information is offered so that you can feel confident in using the tools that we have provided for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. You can launch your own outreach in good conscience.

We believe in one God existing as three persons of one substance: Father, Son, Holy Spirit; equal in power and glory, eternal and in loving communion together since before the world began. Among the incommunicable (unsharable) attributes of God are omnipotence (He can do anything and everything that is holy and just), omniscience (He knows everything) and omnipresence (nowhere can escape Him). He is the almighty King and Lord over all creation. He is holy, perfect in goodness, just and merciful.

We believe God created the universe, the world and all that was originally therein, and He saw that it was good.

We believe that God created angels, one of which (Lucifer, now aka the devil) led a third of the angels in an attempted mutiny against God, and they lost their place in God's heaven, but now occupy lower heavenly places, to tempt humanity and to make war against the people and purposes of God.

We believe that God created hell as a final abode (and punishment) for the devil and his legions of mutineers. We believe that He had to do so for the sake of His divine and perfect justice (since God is just and therefore does not create an unjust system). We therefore believe that any human beings who end up in hell are not sent there by God, but are indeed sent there by the impersonal working of holy justice, pursuant to their own refusal to accept God's only terms of surrender and redemption.

We believe God Created man in His own image, to be loving and sinless; but in the garden, deceived and tempted by the devil (as the serpent), mankind rebelled against God by eating the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, falling from that glory in which man had been created. We believe that all humans have therefore inherited a sinful nature by birth, and all "born of water" (natural birth, as in "my water broke") are separated from God by their sin nature and consequent sinful actions and are in need of salvation ("born of the Spirit", as in "you must be born again") to restore fellowship with God and thus enjoy eternal life with Him.

We believe God provided Adam and Eve with skins of animals slain for their covering, thus creating a precedent of blood sacrifice for the covering of sin, which was a shadow and a type of the ultimate sacrifice to come.

We believe that God promised a redeemer who would be "seed of woman" (virgin birth), who would "bruise" the serpent's "head" (break his power) by giving his "heel" to be "bruised" (crucified on the cross) in atoning sacrifice for sin.

We believe Abel sacrificed a lamb to worship God, acknowledging his own need of blood sacrifice for sin, and was thus a first "type" (figure) of the faithful whose righteousness is dependent upon the substitutionary atonement of the blood sacrifice mercifully ordained for us by God.

We believe that Cain brought a bloodless sacrifice to worship God, indicating his own reliance upon the merit of his own works, and was thus a first "type" (figure) of the profane whose attempts are to establish righteousness of their own (by their own merit), which the apostle John refers to as "evil works", and which Paul refers to as "dead works".

We believe that the Bible, which is the inspired word of God (inerrant in original language), tells the redemptive history of God's provision for the salvation of man, and provides us our inspiration, guidance and comfort as the holy Word of God, who cannot lie.

We believe that sin existed before the law, and that the law was given so that sin would become unmistakably evident, that we would come to the end of ourselves, of our own righteousness, and forsake any fantasy of measuring up on our own. We believe that, while the law provided those under the law with rewards or dire consequences for doing or not doing all therein, it also provided some indications of the righteousness that today is already ours in Christ (by His merit), which God's love now calls believers to increasingly manifest by the life of Christ within (even without the law), for the letter of the law kills, but the Spirit gives life (just as King David who lived under the law prophesied of our enviable state today).

We also believe that while the ordinances of feasts and sacrifices offered an awareness of God's provision and administered a form of covering for those who were under the old covenant of law, such shadows of things to come did not in and of themselves impart salvation, yet did provide clues about the coming ultimate sacrifice: the promised Messiah.

We believe that in the fullness of time, God the Son became flesh, born of a virgin (as promised), to become our kinsman redeemer to pay on the cross the ultimate price for all our sin, for whomsoever would believe upon Him and trust in Him alone (and not in any of our own works).

We believe that Jesus (whose name is salvation) grew to adulthood and launched His two-fold ministry of teaching the fullness of the law, (which man had diluted to try to make it "keep-able", and which He would so soon finish completely fulfilling, using it up and removing it like a paid-off debt, nailing it to the cross), and of foretelling our salvation (that He would so soon purchase for us on that cross), all the while proving His divine right to speak as God by performing miracles that only God could do, thus proving in advance His worthiness to pay for all our sin (not for any of His own since He is God and does no sin); thus He is the spotless "Lamb of God".

We believe that Jesus suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried, and descended into hades (holding place of the dead).

We believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, proving the all-sufficiency of His payment on the cross, proving the completion of our justification in Him by the merit of His substitutionary atonement (taking our place to pay the price for our sin), His resurrection serving as our receipt proving our "justification" (our acquittal by merit of His paying our penalty for our sin, with no more payment required).

We believe, thus, that: God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world (the inhabitants of the world, whosoever believeth in Him) through him might be saved (born again).

We believe that Jesus ascended and now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven, making intercession for us (as our defense attorney and prayer warrior on our behalf). We also believe that before Jesus ascended into heaven, He gave us marching orders (called "The Great Commission") to Go... and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever [Jesus] commanded [us], that we may bear fruit of love for Him (for He first loved us).

We believe that He did not leave us without comfort and help, for He sent the Holy Spirit to come and take up residence within us believers, to manifest as earthly evidence of the life of Christ within us the fruit of the Spirit which James calls "works" (as his noted evidence of faith) and which Paul calls "fruit", for it is God which works (by His Holy Spirit) in us regenerate believers (born again Christians) both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

We believe that the first historical evidence of baptism of the Spirit (at Pentecost) was speaking in tongues (unknown languages), and boldness to testify of Christ our crucified and risen Savior, and that other Spiritual gifts have also been manifested by the Holy Spirit within believers, including healing, prophecy and speaking in "new tongues" (private prayer language between a believer and God).

We believe that today the Holy Spirit continues to perform and spiritually empower miraculous works and experiences in us called "gifts of the Spirit", which are incomplete foretastes of the complete glory to come, but given now for the building up of believers. Thus we now know in part, and we now prophesy in part, yet when the perfection of glory is fully come, pieces of goodness shall pass away into a totality of goodness not in pieces, but complete in Christ, for whom, through whom, and to whom are all things.

While we acknowledge that honest theologians agree to disagree agreeably on the timing of the rapture, we believe that Jesus Christ is coming soon to take His bride, the Church, home to be with Him in glory, to enjoy a "wedding supper of the Lamb" and the eternal loving relationship that continues; and we believe that Jesus will so come to marry His betrothed before the wrath of God is poured out upon all unbelieving flesh in a wicked and hell-bent world that ultimately rejected His loving offer of salvation. We believe that, although the world has trouble enough already, the wrath of God will not be poured out upon the believer.

We believe that in the last days Jesus will judge the living and the dead, and all whose names are not written in the book of life (born again) shall be cast into hell. And all whose names ARE written in the book of life (born again) are the Bride of Christ, who shall be with Him forever.

We affirm the truths of the Apostle's creed, with biblical understanding:

We believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth (not doing so separately from Jesus, by whom and through whom are all things, neither doing so separately from the Holy Spirit, who moved upon the face of the waters in creation). We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hades (place of the dead) and on the third day He rose again; He ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe in the bride of Christ who is the Church (the redeemed out of all times and lands), and the sweet communion of fellowship and spiritual unity within the Body of Christ that transcends all earthly framework. We believe in the forgiveness of sins ONLY by grace, through saving faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in bodily resurrection, to eternal life in heaven for believers and to eternal torment for unbelievers. We believe in life everlasting (eternal life), already begun in sweet fellowship with our Redeemer upon salvation, and ever more to be as the wedding supper of the Lamb marks the beginning of an eternity of glorified bodily presence in our eternal abode with our loving Bridegroom, our Lord.


This document is a work in progress. It's impossible to put all biblical truth into a "nutshell" (brief statement), so we have covered just some of the essentials. While we stand firm on what has been said thus far, we may have more to add to it, or perhaps we may find better and more clear ways of saying what we have already said. In any case you can count on what we've said thus far.
